Types Of Automotive Racing For The Novice

Spread the love

Forget about the cars on the Formula One course the real spectacle is when there arent as many rules or big-money sponsorships for the fancy cars. That is when every kind of modified vehicle comes out of the woodwork, and when you see art expressed in chrome and metal. Here are some of the more famous kinds of automotive races out there, if you want to get a taste for the high road.

Modified Old Classics

Drag racing hot rods has long been popular in several continents, especially if they have been handed down the generations. Aficionados tinker with the engines until they are as fast as they can possibly be and then its time to run! Thanks to the eye catching phenomenon of watching the grand daddies of modern cars race, lots of people flock to these entertaining events. The best part is that its a community and people soon start forming relationships over the vehicles and it also functions as a show of sorts. If you like old-timers (human or automobiles), then this is the place to be.

Get Down and Dirty

Sometimes the vehicles used in the above are custom built hot rods, but when it comes to off-road the vehicles are all modified and rarely built from scratch. Owners and drivers will spend hours modifying them until their vehicles look like something out of Mad Max and it is bristling with special gear, features and equipment. Off-road is exactly as it sounds: there is no proper road and the only way to get to the destination is to use a map and your GPS. Sometimes, jeeps will have to climb over boulders and hillocks in order to get to the next point. Off road races cannot be viewed throughout but for those patient enough to follow the journey, it can be a worthwhile experience.

Ride Like A Rabbit
The objective of the Hare Scramble is to be the fastest past the goal post. It can get a little tedious watching rider after rider complete the same course, but if there are any cameras following each rider it will be a fantastic spectacle of man against nature. These solo riders have to navigate an extremely difficult terrain. Since it is a smaller vehicle than a four wheel drive, there will be problems in balancing as well. It requires a very specific skill set that is different from normal motor cycle races because it means knowing your vehicle very well.So the next time you are in an area that is known for its vehicular sport, go check out something. You might discover a new passion.
